February 11, 1934 - November 18, 2021
Melba was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed peacefully at home into the arms of Jesus on November 18, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born to Grady and Nola Hudson on February 11, 1934, in Waldron, Arkansas. The family moved to California when Melba was a child, and she lived most of her life in the Yuba-Sutter area. She married the love of her life, Bernie Risenhoover, on July 1, 1951. They were married for 68 years. Melba served her church and community with passion and grace. In the 70's she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Fremont Hospital. She was heavily involved in the Women's Ministry program at Calvary Christian Center and served as a leader in the Missionettes program for girls. In her free time, Melba enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, crafting, and baking. She and Bernie also loved to camp and spent a great deal of time traveling in their motorhome. Her favorite times were spent with her family and friends. Melba had a special warmth about her as she hosted holidays, other special occasions, and lots of sleepovers with her grandchildren. She had a knack for making everyone feel loved and welcome in her home. She will be greatly missed. Melba is survived by her daughters, Jan Steffens (Jeff) and Lynette Abbott (Bret); brothers, Dewayne Hudson (Cherie) and Tom Hudson (Karen); sister, Larenda Young (Ben); sister-in-law, Betty Hudson; brother-in-law, Truman Wilson; grandchildren, Allyson, Jessica (Tyler), Angela, and Jacob (Rachel); and great-grandchildren, Tyson and Finley. She is preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Nola Hudson; bonus mom, Lorene Hudson; husband, Bernie Risenhoover; son, Tim Risenhoover; brother, Wendell Hudson; and sister, Wanda Wilson. There will be a private family service as she is laid to rest at Sutter Cemetery.
