Obituary of David Hudspeth

David Hudspeth, of Yuba City, California, passed away in his home surrounded by family on March 14, 2024. Born to Elbert and Barbara Hudspeth in Woodburn, Oregon. David spent his formative years in Marysville, California. A retired Army Major, he served in the 101st Airborne, first flying helicopters in Vietnam, followed by direct commission to First Lieutenant in the Transportation Corps. Following retirement from the Army, he worked in the construction field with his cousin Lewis, but the thing David was most proud of building was a family, most embracing the opportunity to bring goofiness into the lives of his seven grandchildren. David is survived by his wife, Gloria (Bush); sons, Paul (Kari) Martindale and James Hudspeth; as well as his brother, Robert (Maryann) Hudspeth; and many grandchildren and grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his parents; three of his siblings: his sisters, Linda Jennings and Karen Moore; and his brother, Kelly; and his beloved son, Vaughan; and much adored granddaughter Alicia. David was proud to live what he described as a good, God-fearing, and honorable life. He loved golf and writing letters to the editor. His musings, humor, golf stories, and unconditional love will be missed. A graveside service will take place at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024. Following services, guests will be received at Banner Grange Hall at 12629 McCourtney Rd, Grass Valley, CA 95945. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Headstrong Project, which provides mental health services to veterans. Headstrong Project P.O. Box 412572 Boston, MA 02241-412572
